Jobs

Want to impact society by shaping the way students learn math?
Here's what we're currently looking for:

Sales

Do you have a past history of success in selling educational software? Do you have a large, established set of contacts who trust you? If so, we might be able to use your help. Your job title will be affected by your level of experience. Compensation will include high commissions rates and no cap on total commission. High performance will never penalize you with higher quotas. In other words, high achievers will always earn more than low achievers.

Software Architect

We're looking for exactly one exceptional software engineer who likes to write lots of code. Specifically, we want somebody who can substantially impact the design and implementation of every aspect of our product and future products. Compensation will include significant stock options.

Requirements

  • Must have scored a 790 or 800 on the math portion of an official SAT test.
  • Must have gotten an A in a university level algorithms class. Example: MIT's 6.046: Introduction to Algorithms.
  • Must have a B.S. in Computer Science or reasonable equivalent.
  • Must have solid mastery over object-oriented programming techniques.
  • Must have a passion for writing modular, readable source code.
  • Must be proactive and willing to speak up when something doesn't look right.
  • Has at least 1 year of experience as a professional programmer.
  • Must be willing to commute to Palo Alto, California.
  • Must be willing to place curly braces on the same line as a statement. Example:
    if (foo) {
      doSomething();
      doSomethingElse();
    }

    We're not kidding here. We want our layout to be consistent, so don't apply if you insist on placing your curly braces elsewhere.

In Addition, the Ideal Candidate... (nice to haves)

  • Is a graduate from a top university, such as MIT or Stanford.
  • Has had previous success tutoring students in math.
  • Has already been a software architect at another company.
  • Has read Code Complete, by Steve McConnell, and actively applies the principles promoted in that book.
  • Is skillful with either PHP, Perl, or an equivalent interpreted language.
  • Has completed a university class in natural language processing.
  • Types really fast. If you can score 130 on our Copy Cat topic (available in the free trial), then we think that you are really fast.
We program in PHP, but experience in that language is not necessary. We just care that you are solid at OOP, preferably in Java or C++, and assume that you can pick up PHP quickly.
