Here are some tips for Integer Addition, which aligns with Florida state standards:

**Integer Addition**

A number line helps you see how integers are added.

On a number line,

• when you add *positive* integers, move to the *right*.

• when you add *negative* integers, move to the *left*.

**Positive + Positive**

**Positive + Negative**

a. Start at ^{+}3 on the number lineb. From ^{+}3, move 5 to the left to add^{-}5You end up at ^{-}2

**Negative + Positive**

a. Start at ^{-}3 on the number lineb. From ^{-}3, move 4 to the right to add^{+}4You end up at ^{+}1
