Absolute Value 1

The absolute value of a number x ( written as |x| ) is the distance from 0 to x on a number line. Absolute values are always positive.


| 2 | = 2         | -2 | = 2
The absolute value for both 2 and -2 is 2.
This is because 2 is right of 0 by 2 units and -2 is left of 0 by 2 units.
