Special Education Math Information
Special needs kids have incredibly diverse needs when it comes to the way
they learn. Fortunately, the supplemental nature of MathScore and its
various forms of positive feedback have been effective with a variety
of special needs kids.
Instant Feedback
MathScore is paperless and provides instant feedback the moment a student
finishes an online worksheet. The problems are automatically graded and
frequently come with step-by-step solution explanations. For you, the lack
of paperwork enables you to spend more time working directly with your kids.
Appropriate Difficulty Increases Motivation
MathScore supports Kindergarten through Algebra I.
The curriculum is divided into hundreds of individual math topics, enabling
students to practice very specific skills.
As a special education teacher, you know how important it is to find
content that is accessible for each individual student. With MathScore,
you can start with the most basic skills and watch your students grow with
the program.
What makes MathScore special is that it constantly adapts difficulty based
on performance. As students do well, their rating on an individual topic
increases as they reach higher difficulty levels. There is also a cumulative
score feature and an opportunity to earn special ranks, such as commander,
captain, etc. The combination of
these features results in strong desire to master a topic, which is to score
a rating of 100 on a topic.
Evey time a child reaches a rating of 100 on a topic, you have a victory
worth celebrating. Share your excitement each time this happens
and you'll find the MathScore experience to be quite rewarding.
Easy-to-Use Analysis Tools
With a few button clicks, you can view activity summaries that cover exactly
what each child accomplished in any period of time that you choose. All
results are stored in real-time, so the moment a child finishes a worksheet,
you can access the results.
The main benefit of the analysis tools is that progress is measurable. The
reports are very meaningful, and can be appreciated by both parents and
high level administrators who want to see proof of progress.
Accessibility
Every worksheet on MathScore has a time limit that figures into the
difficulty adaptation calculations. For special needs kids, the default time
limits are often adjusted, which is easy for teachers to do by
modifying a parameter called "Seconds Per Problem Padding".
MathScore does not provide any audio assistance with the problems.

By the way, we also have a home version designed for individual families,
homeschoolers, private tutors, and tutoring centers.
If this is more appropriate for your needs, try the

If you have fewer than 15 students,
you may find the Home Version to be more
cost effective than the school version. However, you'll need to use a credit
card to pay for the Home Version. If you need to save money, try getting at
least 1 other teacher in your school to come on board with MathScore, and
your cost per student using the school version should come down considerably.
